FAQ's Online Training

Who can sign up to the course? 

Anyone can sign up to the course.  The course is designed for complete beginners, or artists who would like training in specific areas of make-up. 

Can I sign up if I am under 18?

We will accept students from 16 onwards.  However students aged 16 & 17 will need parental/guardian consent.  

How long is the course?

If you follow the full programme, complete with the live classes you will complete the course in 4 weeks.  However you will have access to the learning platform for 8 weeks and can stagger your live classes over this period?

What language is the course delivered in? Are there any language requirements?

The course is delivered in English. It will be expected that you have a good comprehension of English. Please note, however additional support is available during our live classes. 

Are there any pre-requisites for taking the course online?

There are no prerequisites for taking any of our online courses. Courses are structured by our expert educators to provide students with all they require to  develop their understanding of the field of study.

Are the courses delivered live or on demand?

The course is self-directed, but you can comfortable take the course across a 4 week period.  The entire programme is available for 8 weeks after enrolment to facilitate your self-guided journey.

Does the course have subtitles?

No the course do not have subtitles. 

Can I do the course if I am outside the UK & Northern Ireland? 

Yes.  Before booking we recommend you check that your home country does not have any firewalls blocking our e-learning platform.  Please contact our enrolment team at info@centralschoolofmakeup.co.uk and they will provide you with a link to the platform so you can test this function before booking.

 

Are the courses assessed? 

Self-directed courses are not assessed. However there is options for enrolled students to participate in short essays or multiple-choice questions to reinforce their learning.  The school does provide courses provide formal assessment which is integral to our education qualifications with the IMA - at present, these courses are NOT online. 

 

Are the courses accredited or credit-bearing? 

No. The online courses are not accredited and do not carry credits. The purpose of our online courses is to allow students to share in The Central School of Makeups education and unique access to teachers and a supportive learning environment. 

 

Will I receive a certificate or diploma upon completion of an online course?

Students on the courses will receive a certificate of completion. This can be sent in digital format or a printed copy for an additional small fee. 

What is the weekly time commitment?

The time commitment varies depending on the individual. If you work at a pace of two modules per week, the maximum time required will be 5-6 hours. Students who wish to study more intensively will find they are able to spend many hours a week with the course.

How do I sign up?

Once you have purchased the course, our enrolment team will contact you with enrolment forms. Once these are completed, you will be provide access to your e-learning platform with your unique log-in. 

 

Can I access from any device?

Yes, the e-learning platform will work from any device.  However we recommend you use either a tablet or laptop - the platform seems to format very well to these devices. 

 

What happens once I paid for my course?

The bookings team will contact you directly.  You will be asked to complete enrolment forms, on receipt of these you will be emailed with your unique log-in. 

 

What if I want to withdraw from my course? 

You are under no obligation to complete your course and you may withdraw at any time.  Enrolled students who have accessed the online portal will not be entitled to a refund.  For students who have not accessed a course. Further detail and information on  your rights to withdraw from the courses and receive a refund, and how to exercise them, are set out in the terms and conditions.

 

What happens in the enrolment orientation? 

Once you access the course there are two videos for you to watch, which explain how to use the e-learning platform.  There is also an introduction pack for you to read. 

What are the technical requirements for taking the online course?  In order to make sure our e-learning platform runs well, please make sure your desktop/device has the following:

    • The most recent version of a web browser listed below
    • Javascript enabled
    • PDF plugin
    • Graphic and audio output capability
    • Broadband internet connection with a minimum speed of 5Mbps (recommended)
    • TLS 1.2 supported by your web browser
