Welcome to The Central School of Make-Up
Birmingham's first independent internationally-certified make-up school, ideally located within The Custard Factory, the heart of Birmingham's creative quarter and just a five minute walk from the city's Bullring, Moor Street Station and New Street Station.
The School offers the highest standard of short intensive make-up courses, ranging from Foundation level to media make-up through to fashion, photographic, editorial and catwalk make-up all taught by internationally acclaimed and celebrity make-up artists and industry experts. Our courses can be taken full-time, part-time evenings or weekends. Enabling students to study their make-up skills in a flexible way that suits their needs.
We proudly offer students the prestigious internationally recognised qualification IMA (International Make-up Association) joining only select specialist schools in London, Spain, Dubai, Moscow and other locations across Europe and Asia.
The school offers the highest standard of education and curriculum within the make-up industry. Proudly, we are the only accredited school to offer the prestigious IMA (International Make-up Association) outside of London.
Each student will have the opportunity to learn and then practise their new skills each day they are in the school with the guidance of their make-up lecturer, allowing each student to maximise their full potential in a hands on approach. We don’t just stop there; we offer all our graduates a place on our growing and in-demand Make-up Event Team, encouraging each graduate to gain vital work experience in the industry and help to achieve a fantastic CV for potential clients and jobs.
All lecturers and guest artists, who teach at the school, are at the top of their career -working for Celebrities, Fashion Brands, Magazines, Catwalk, T.V. and Film. If an exciting career in make-up is what you want to achieve, then the Central School of Make-Up is the place for you!
The Central School of Make-Up offers a completely new way of training to the Midlands budding make-up artists. Courses are designed to be 'hands on' and less theoretical, meaning you will gain as much experience as possible during your course. Each day will start with a demo and lecture from either your main make-up tutor or a guest artist. Afternoons will be spent in a workshop, where each student will get the opportunity to practice the look under the guidance of the expert make-up teachers who will be on hand to guide you through your creative process. You and your fellow students will in turn work on each other, using the wide range of premium make-up products that are available in the studio. Giving you the crucial opportunity to work on different skins, eye shapes, face shapes and with many different products, as if you are working on 'real' clients or models.
Make-up courses are designed with you in mind! We understand that often, time is not always at your disposal, therefore, our courses are available mid-week, evenings and weekends. The course levels can be built up over time. For example, if you initially book and complete a foundation level course. You can then return to achieve the advanced levels at a later stage. Meaning your education can be flexible around your work schedule, financial or other commitments.
Although our courses are short and intensive this does not mean that less hours on a course will mean less skills. As you will be taught to the highest industry curriculum (IMA) and standards. A standard that to date has only been available in the London, Dubai and Moscow make-up schools. Standards that the Creative Director is proud of and has gained her a high calibre career within the make-up and beauty industry.
The school may differ from other make-up training establishments when it comes to the students providing their own make-up materials, course books and make-up kit. Typically this would be an additional cost to the course. Often being the biggest expense. At the Central School of Make-up this is all included in your course cost. All disposables and high end make-up will be provided for you to use during your workshops. Even a professional fashion photo shoot for those who wish to study on our more creative courses will be an additional perk to get you on your way to becoming a working Make-up Artist. All taking place within a modern, beautifully presented make-up studio in the heart of Birmingham's creative quarter.
The only item that needs purchasing is the make-up brush cleaner, your own brushes and PPE, all items are available to purchase in our store online before your course date.
