This course is perfect for those who wish are looking for a degree alternative and to access the industry quickly. It takes you from the beginner’s Foundation level through to Creative skills (with no previous experience required) and onwards to media, film and theatrical make-up. All of our make-up courses are designed to give the student as much time applying make-up and hands-on experience as possible. There is no need to undertake a separate foundation module prior to starting this 10 week course as it includes within the first two weeks all the basic elements required. Over the following weeks students will spend each day under the instruction of top specialist make-up artists who will be handing over all the latest techniques and looks in various aspects of high fashion, photographic and media make-up. The creative curriculum covers; high fashion/editorial, photographic and catwalk looks, followed by TV, film, black & white, fantasy, body painting, airbrushing, theatrical, period styles, burlesque/vintage, modern Asian bridal, special effects such as false beards & moustaches, ageing, cuts, bruises and scarring. You will also have five days in dressing hair with a hair session stylist for up-styles, bridal, events, occasions and shoots including blow-drying techniques and platting. During this all-encompassing course you will take part in both a colour and monochrome photographic shoot on an agency model and shot by our professional fashion photographer Garazi to help start off your portfolio. You will need to take photographic evidence of your work daily, therefore you will need a good camera on your smart phone, or a digital camera. **This is the ONLY course we provide active work experience as part of your training with us. Included in the course cost, you also will have the opportunity to attend a professional photo shoot with top photographer Garazi and agency signed models. Your lecturers will guide you with advice to develop an industry worthy Mood Board and will have the opportunity to showcase your skills, enabling you to start building a portfolio ready for freelance work. This year, we will also be inviting artists from this course to exhibit their work at a prestigious event in Birmingham hosted by the School, boosting your professional opportunities even more!
