Professional Hair Styling Training for Makeup Artists (5 Days)

This intensive 5-day IMA accredited course is designed for makeup artists who wish to offer professional hairstyling and expand their freelance opportunities. Ideal for those working in bridal, fashion, TV and film, and special occasion environments. No previous hairdressing experience is required.

Core Skills

• Hygiene and safety
• Structure of the hair
• Use of equipment
• Product training
• Plaits – three strand and fishtail
• Sectioning techniques
• Basic blow drying
• Drying techniques
• Advanced blow drying for root lift and curl
• Roller setting & root movement theory
• Pin and rag curls

Styling & Creative Work

• Editorial styling
• Ponytails
• Tonging / electrical curling
• Texturising and finishing
• Twisting and pinning hair
• Up-styling
• Dressing long hair: chignon, French pleat, classic bun
• Backcombing and brushing
• Correct use of hair pins
• Finger waves (vintage techniques)
• Victory rolls

*This course does not include cutting or colouring.
