Our Story

The Central School of Make-Up was born after its founder and creative director, Laura Hannon, gained a wealth of experience as an international make-up artist and more recently held the title of Creative Executive-Head of Make-up and Artistry for the largest private make-up and beauty school in the UK based in London.

Over a decade in the capital, and working internationally as a freelance make-up artist incorporating her role as head of department for the London school, Laura felt it was time to bring the high standard of make-up education back to her home city - Birmingham!

With a career spanning over 12 years in the make-up, hair, and beauty industry, Laura has been fortunate to have worked with some major brand names such as Chanel, Amanda Wakeley and Louis Vuitton to name but a few. She also held the title of Brand Ambassador, leading to a guest presenter role on television. Throughout her career Laura has had the opportunity to work with many famous models; make-up artists, top photographers, celebrities and even the elite clientele of the infamous Cannes Film Festival! Over the years she has worked for the BBC on the feature film 'Coco Avant Chanel' starring Audrey Tautou; catwalk shows in both London and Paris and shoots for celebrities such as Daisy Lowe, Jeff Brazier, Freddie Flintoff and Beverley Knight.

As a fully qualified educator with years of experience, Laura's vision and passion is to offer the highest industry standards to the Midlands, creating the next generation of make-up artists. With a strong passion for make-up, an infectious energy and ultimate professionalism, Laura is confident that The Central School of Make-Up will soon be firmly on the map as one of the best training schools in the UK.

The school offers the highest standard of education and curriculum within the make-up industry. Proudly, we are the only accredited school to offer the prestigious IMA (International Make-up Association) outside of London.

Each student will have the opportunity to learn and then practise their new skills each day they are in the school with the guidance of their make-up lecturer, allowing each student to maximise their full potential in a hands on approach. We don’t just stop there; we offer all our graduates a place on our growing and in-demand Make-up Event Team, encouraging each graduate to gain vital work experience in the industry and help to achieve a fantastic CV for potential clients and jobs.

All lecturers and guest artists, who teach at the school, are at the top of their career -working for Celebrities, Fashion Brands, Magazines, Catwalk, T.V. and Film. If an exciting career in make-up is what you want to achieve, then the Central School of Make-Up  is the place for you!
