With summer well and truly underway, the Make-up Central Event Team have managed to survive the summer in true Glam Squad style!
Our talented make-up team have attended fashion and photographic shoots across the city, getting noticed by more local photographers and the fashion crowd! One of our Event Team make-up artists Veronika, was invited to apply make-up for a short educational film that was being shot in The Custard Factory, with a brief that was different to the usual glamorous affair as this time she was asked to make the model ‘down’ not ‘up’! Meanwhile across the city Maria, who is also part of our Event Team and is quickly getting booked up for make-up jobs, recently impressed us with a stunning photo shoot partnering with local photographer Olivia Grace. The results were amazing! So much so that the photographer has booked her for her latest project…Watch this space.
One very early morning at Moor Street Station, Diana and I armed with our extensive make-up and hair kit bags, plus and a big cup of coffee, jumped on the first train heading for Marylebone. Diana, our Key Make-up Artist and I had an exciting trip back to the capital were we spent the day at a filming studio grooming the very beautiful T.V presenter Jasmine Harman ready for a new television commercial to be launched later this year. I kept the make-up look sophisticated and polished, adding a hint of Lancôme Bleu-Gris soft kohl by gently smudging under Jasmines lower lash line to complement her blue/green eyes. Skin was flawless with a radiant matte finish achieved using Perfection Lumiere by Chanel. I added a light whisk of bronzer to the high points of the face to bring out the natural tan and finished with a soft flutter of lashes. Diana, mirrored the theme by adding soft silky waves to Jasmines long hair. The perfect summer polished look!
Of course it’s not just all work and no play and it would be rude not to indulge in a little down time now and again, right? That’s exactly what we did by attending the Midlands Fashion Awards networking soirée one sunny August Friday evening at the beautiful Fazeley Studios in digbeth. The fashion pack were out with force, celebrating the best of the Midlands up and coming talented designers, make-up artists and stylists. The evening didn’t disappoint, and it is always a pleasure to meet up with some of the cities industry likeminded professionals.
As the Central School of Make-up spring/summer make-up courses drew to an end all the Central School of Make-up students undertook an intense make-up exam, facilitated by none other than the Chief International Make-up Association (IMA) examiner who visited Birmingham for two days from London. Pressure much?! … However we were delighted with the results and utterly proud of the next generation of IMA and Event Team Make-up Artists who will be glamming up a Midland area near you very soon.
Watch out Birmingham!
