Well summer certainly is warming up, and what a great few months it has been for Birmingham’s Glam Squad!
After a busy few weeks during March and April, we finally slowed the pace to attend the city’s annual Beauty UK show at the NEC. Thousands of professional Beauty Buffs walked through the doors over the 2 Day event to find out the latest trends and techniques coming up over the next year in the Beauty industry. It is always a great show and a fantastic opportunity to network with our fellow professionals, not to mention gaining inspiration for the hottest looks on the street!
After the show, the team and I were invited to attend a beautiful lunch at The Malmaison (We could get used to this!) for a seminar about an up and coming American make-up brand called Motives. As always, our make-up brushes were never far from our hands and we had the pleasure of demonstrating the gorgeous Motives products on some of the ladies who attended. The soft yet pigmented shadows blended like a dream and I personally couldn't resist a quick touch up of the Motives for La La Mineral Red Lipstick before we left. It is my signature red lip after all!
Summer just wouldn't be the same without a Ladies Day to attend, and when I was invited, I simply could not think of a better way to celebrate the start of the tennis season than at the Edgbaston Priory infamous Ladies Day. The sun was certainly in full glory on centre court as Ladies from across Birmingham, dressed in beautiful summer attire and manicured hands sipped Pimms around the stunning poolside setting of the club. Always with an eye for detail, I love to admire the summer make-up trends as seen at such events and this year is no exception. The key look for this summer is simple, yet groomed, as seen at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. I like to call it the ‘no make-up make-up with a glamorously groomed twist’ Think Kate Middleton, Poppy Delevingne and Blake Lively.
Blow-dries are relaxed, skin has a radiant velvet glow with a hint of summer kiss and hail the return of the coral lip! To achieve this look I have been inspired by the beautiful new collection from Chanel, and if there was one lady who knew how to rock a summer trend it was Coco herself. With a nod towards the time she spent in Biarritz during her heyday the collection oozes, on- trend, ladylike yet understated elegance. Use Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet, lightly applied over the areas of the face that need it most. Gently whisk Soleil Tan de Chanel across the high points of the face, decollate and shoulders. Keep the rest of the make-up pared down with just a wash of bronze across the mobile part of the lid and a slick of mascara. For a regal look, try adding a navy mascara for effortless chic! Apply a smattering of coral such as Chanel La Rouge to your lips, and as ladies who know how to do lunch would say, match your lippy to your nails…Voila, summer has finally arrived!
