1. Look for the PAO Symbol: Many cosmetics feature a Period After Opening (PAO) symbol—a small open jar icon with a number inside. This number indicates the number of months the product is safe to use after opening. For example, "12M" means the product is safe to use for 12 months after opening.
2. Check the Packaging: Some products may have an expiry date printed directly on the packaging or label. Look for phrases like "Use By," "Best Before," or "Expires On" followed by a date. If you can't find a specific date, check for a batch code, which can be used to determine the manufacturing date.
3. Assess the Product: Pay attention to changes in colour, texture, and scent. If a product has changed significantly from its original state or has developed an unusual odour, it may be expired and should be discarded.
